This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.

By using our services, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.

We collect personal information necessary to provide our services, including:

  • Contact details (e.g., name, phone number, email address, and driver authority number)

  • Payment details (processed securely via third-party payment providers)

  • Transaction history and billing information

  • Identifiers such as IP addresses, device information, and other tracking technologies (for online services, as described in Section 6)

  • Location data (if applicable and with your consent)


We collect this information when you:

  • Use our payment services

  • Contact customer support

  • Visit our website or mobile platforms

  • Onboard as a driver


Customers
Payments made with CabFare are completely anonymous. No personal or card details are stored, and customers do not create an account. Transactions are securely processed by third-party providers without linking them to individuals.

Drivers using the CabFare Tap-to-Pay App
Drivers onboard by providing their personal details and completing a third-party payment provider's verification process, where the provider manages all KYC/AML compliance and personal driver data. CabFare does not receive or store this data.

Drivers using the CabFare physical payment terminal
Drivers onboard by submitting their personal details through an online form to verify their regulatory credentials for operating a commercial passenger vehicle.  This information forms part of our KYC/AML processes to ensure regulatory compliance.  We may from time to time seek additional information to ensure regulatory compliance if the information contained in the online form is unclear.

We do not collect sensitive information (e.g., racial or ethnic origin, health data).

3. Use of Personal Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and improving our payment services

  • Managing accounts and processing transactions

  • Responding to enquiries and customer support requests

  • Complying with legal and regulatory obligations

  • Conducting internal audits and fraud prevention

  • Sending marketing communications (with opt-out options available)

  • Verifying and onboarding drivers


4. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to:

  • Related companies within CabFare

  • Third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors)

  • Regulatory bodies or law enforcement (as required by law)

CabFare does not receive or store personal driver data collected during the third-party payment provider’s KYC/AML verification process.
If personal information is shared internationally, we ensure compliance with APP 8 (Cross-border Disclosure of Personal Information) by implementing contractual protections.

5. Data Security & Retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, and loss. Measures include:

  • Secure encryption and access controls

  • Regular security assessments

  • Data minimisation principles (only storing data as long as necessary)

We retain transaction information for a maximum of seven (7) years and three (3) months after a transaction has been completed, unless legal obligations require longer retention.
We retain information required for AML/KYC for seven (7) years following a Driver ceasing to being a user of the CabFare payment system.

6. Online Tracking & Website Technologies
Our website may use tracking technologies to enhance user experience. These may include:

  • Essential tracking tools (for core functionality, e.g., session cookies to maintain user authentication across pages)

  • Analytics tools (to monitor website usage)

  • Advertising trackers (for personalised marketing, e.g., Google Ads and other third-party advertising networks, if applicable)

Users can manage or disable tracking technologies via browser settings.

7. Access & Correction of Personal Information
You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you

  • Request corrections if your information is inaccurate

8. Data Breach Notification
In compliance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in case of an eligible data breach that poses serious harm.
